Vacancy to vibrancy.

It all began with a need to throw paint and a passion for experience design…

We activate dead spaces to make space for creation art & community.

The whole story

The first vacancy to vibrancy studio was an old, spooky-charming doctor’s office on Adams Ave in North Park way back in 2022. Nicole found it by calling every for-lease sign she could find before literally stumbling across it. The tiny garage-like space had fake windows and no ventilation whatsoever. It was destined for demo in a few months and though she didn’t fully know it at the time, the first version of The Rainbow was born.

After leaving that space, Nicole spent time looking for a new one. After not much time and a whole lotta serendipitously, she found her next studio space, and the first official Rainbow showed itself - literally -at 2002 University. It’s amazing what a bit of luck, a twist of manifestation and a healthy dose of friendship can do. The next 18 months at the Risk Rock muralled building on Florida and University were full of comedy, music, paint, yoga, markets and community.

The rest of the story is unfolding as we speak. The Rainbow now calls a gallery-vibed spot right next to the North Park sign home and will for as long we do. Each space we’ve inhabited has been different. The walls dictate the types of creation that can take place within.

While the last space was more of an experience venue, this one is more of a studio and gallery. And that’s great. Our hope is to do as much creation as possible in there, while we can.

Have a question? All ears always.
